Enema Solutions
Knowing a little more about some commonly used enema solutions can help to give an idea of their effectiveness and which is the right choice for you.
1. Which Water To Use
In order to avoid introducing toxins into the body whilst administering an enema, it is important to use the right water. You only want the cleanest and purest water to enter your body. The chlorine in tap water can kill off beneficial bacteria in the bowel, so this is definitely not recommended. Distilled of purified water is the preferred choice, although if you find this too expensive, then as a last resort filtered water could be used. Do bear in mind though that this is not as pure as distilled or purified water and has the potential to irritate the bowel.
2. Coffee Enemas
Coffee enemas have been used since around 1917 for pain relief, which was found to be very effective. The beneficial effects of coffee enemas for cleaning and detoxifying the liver are now well known and they do not have detrimental effects on the nervous system. The chemicals in coffee (palmitates), together with caffeine, stimulate and cleanse the liver and blood without entering the digestive tract. Being absorbed via blood vessels through the bowel wall, they move directly to the liver. Peristalsis (internal muscle contractions) is triggered removing wastes from the body in a very efficient manner.
The use of organic coffee is very important as non-organic will be laden with nasty chemicals which are to be avoided at all costs.
Coffee Enema Recipe
To prepare a 2 litres of coffee, three rounded tablespoons of organic coffee is sufficient. It is best to use a non-aluminium saucepan for making the coffee enema solution.
Mix the water and coffee together and bring to the boil. Continue to boil for five minutes stirring well. The solution should be cooled to body temperature before use.
Place about 2 litres of filtered water plus 3 rounded table spoons of organic coffee into a non-aluminium saucepan. Aluminium is toxic and whilst brewing can leech into the coffee.
Bring to boil on the cooker for five minutes, stirring well, then turn off appliance and let the solution cool to body temperature before use. Some people prefer to make the solution and allow it to cool overnight, re-heating to body temperature the next day. The solution is then ready for use.
3. Bicarbonate of Soda
Bicarbonate of Soda is another choice used by some people. This particular solution can make the enema more effective by drawing more water from the surrounding area of the colon. It is more commonly used for general cleansing and is sometimes used with sea salt.
A saline enema using two quarts of distilled or purified water, one tablespoon of sea salt and half to one tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda is a good general cleansing enema.
